SOLD OUT! Please join us at a Beekeepers Guild meeting to learn more about keeping bees. The Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia presents a three-day Short Course for Beginning Beekeepers with an emphasis on sustainable, chemical-free practices. The course will be held on three consecutive Saturday mornings, February 11, 18 & 25, 2017 at the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. An optional fourth Saturday open hive demonstration in the bee yard with an equipment assembly demonstration is included. The course consists of lectures and hands-on demonstrations. This course fulfills the educational requirement of six (6) hours of classroom instruction in introductory beekeeping training for the qualified level of the Virginia Master Beekeeper Program.
First Saturday, February 11, 2017 (8 AM to 2 PM)
Second Saturday, February 18, 2017 (8 AM to 2 PM)
Third Saturday, February 25, 2017 (8 AM to 2 PM)
Optional Fourth Saturday, April 8, 2017 (10 AM to 1 PM)
Tuition: $55 includes MAAREC Beekeeping Basics, additional beekeeping publications, refreshments each day and a FREE Guild membership from February 25, 2017 to June 30, 2017. $25 tuition available for additional students in the same household (one set of reference materials per household). Minor children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Directions: Take I-64 West to I-264 East. Exit on Birdneck Road. Take a right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Stay to the right. At traffic light, turn right onto Americus, and then a quick right into Integrity Way. Look for a red brick building with a sign reading "Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Training Academy".
