Welcome to the Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia (BGSV). We meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM in Towne Hall, a wing of Towne Bank located at 137 Mt. Pleasant Rd.,Chesapeake, VA  23322.   The public is invited to join us for socializing and the meeting. Our next meeting will be January 13th 2025. 

December is the the Guild's month for celebrating the holidays; therefore, will not be having a December member's meeting. 

Kerry Bass Memorial Scholarship

Award:

The Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia will award a scholarship in the amount of $1000 in the fall of the award year to a graduating senior planning to major in elementary education (K-5). Click here or any of the linked references below to obtain the application form.

Purpose of Scholarship:

To assist undergraduate students enrolled in an Elementary (K-5) Education field of study with tuition expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a resident of the city in which scholarship is being granted;
  • Applicant must be eligible for graduation in the scholarship year;
  • Applicant must have been accepted or have applied to an accredited full-time 4-year undergraduate program beginning with the fall semester in the year the scholarship is being presented;
  • Applicant must intend to teach K-5 grade upon completion of undergraduate program;
  • Applicant must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Deadline:

Applications and accompanying paperwork must be received between March 1st and April 1st of the award year. Selected scholarship winners will be announced in Mid-May of the award year. The Scholarship will be awarded to the selected student’s’ university in the student’s name for the fall in the year the scholarship

  • Applicant must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Complete Application Packet Must Include the Following:

A brief essay (four pages maximum, typed, double spaced, font size 12 point, a minimum of two pages is required) on your career goals, specifically including how you see your education impacting the lives of children following graduation from college, and why;

  • Essay must contain name and contact information at the top of first page;
  • A completed, legible scholarship application form;
  • One letter of reference from a current or past faculty member;
  • A copy of high school transcript.
