November 2018 BOD Meeting Minutes

The meeting was held on November 8, 2018 at 6:30 pm.  Present were: Dave Robinson, Kathy Robinson, Chris Shonts, Tracy Shonts, Charity Mack, Dennis Heidenthal, and Nick Delphia.  The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm.

Discussion Items:

• Holiday Party – 2^nd Monday in Dec, Dec 10^th
• Black Pelican, prefix menu was chosen, private room
• Short Course – Tentative dates February 2, 9, 16 7-4pm
  • Theresa Ore is our point of contact again this year
  • Need more new volunteers for this event
  • Speakers are lined up
  • $50 for the first person and $25 each additional family member
  • Order Dadent and Brushy Mountain Catalogues – Nick to order and send to Tracy & Chris’ house.
  • Order American Bee Journal and Bee Culture – Kathy
• Upcoming Classes –
  • November – Winterizing Hives – Dennis
  • December – No class – Holiday Party
  • January – Nuc/ Mentor Training Class Presentation
  • February – Swarm Buckets
  • March – Splits
  • April – Open Hive Demo- Possibly 3^rd week of April at New Earth Farm?
• Mentor Coordinator Assistant – We need an assistant Mentor Coordinator
• New Supplies Needed – New HDMI cable is needed for Membership meetings
• Event Review
  • January 24-27 – Garden Show
  • February 2, 9, 16 – Short Course
• Other
  • Member speakers are not paid, Outside speakers can be paid for
  • Went over checks that have not been cashed
  • Scholarship this year is for City of Chesapeake Schools and Home School students in Chesapeake
  • Pam is taking over the newsletter
  • Public website is going to be back up and running by the weekend
  • Vote Charity Mack in for Vice President at the Membership meeting
• Membership Meeting – November 12 at 7pm
