                         Webmaster):  Jean Carideo (Secretary

Unable to attend:    Dennis Heidenthal (Mentor Coordinator) Kathy Robinson (Treasurer)

Board Meeting Schedule Change:  Changing the meeting date to the 1st Thursday of the month would simplify remembering it.  Nick will check the availability of the trailer and the change will begin with the Sept. meeting (Sept. 5th)

Event Review:

Butterfly Festival: Cheryl reported a good turnout; bigger tents and new BGSV volunteers who observed seasoned BGSV answer questions in the morning and who then went on to successfully staff the afternoon shift. This is a good way to train new folks. The event is a good partnership with other pollinator groups.

VBFM Honey Day: Kathy, Richard and Donnie all sold out of products

Extractaganza: even with the last-minute changes of date and location, 40 people attended and the potluck was a success.

Upcoming Events:

Honey Bee Festival, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, August 17, 2019: Nick distributed the task list and details of the day, as well as assignments, were discussed.

Educational Display, Children’s Museum, Sept. 15, 9-12: tailored for special needs kids, honey sampling (“taste of Tidewater”), no honey sales.  The Guild receives an honorarium for a 3 hour commitment that should be a lot of fun (supplies needed:educational posters, teaching hive, tasting spoons, banner)

Fall Harvest Festival- Arboretum (October?)- more information to come

Deep Creek Ruritan Club Beerfest, September 21– The club supports the Guild every year by supplying their hall for Extractaganza, so supporting the beerfest will be brought before the membership.

Website Update: Dave is transitioning files and the newsletters (5 years will be available) from Wild Apricot to Jumba.  Go Daddy is our URL provider; the bill has been paid.

Workshops: Wax working in November? Soap making (cold process)? Could be held before the holiday, Nick will check on Ag trailer availability.

Nuc Program Report: everyone who asked for bees got them.  The system worked out well.  Sadly for everyone in the Guild, Cheryl has accepted a job in Maryland and must resign as Nuc Coordinator.

Holiday Social Planning: Black Pelican, in lieu of the Dec. meeting (Dec. 9). Nick will ask the membership.

New Business: no new business.
